In the Club

The opening of Ikea’s pop up ‘Dining Club’ in East London’s Shoreditch, which as well as running as a café from 10 to 25 September, (yes, there will be meatballs), will offer a programme of culinary workshops with a Scandi flavour.

According to Ikea’s marketing team, the Dining Club is designed to “celebrate the joy of cooking together”. They say that The Dining Club will feature a DIY restaurant where visitors get to play chef, and invite their friends to eat the results because, they tell us, “when we cook together, we make more than just food.’ We’re giving them the benefit of the doubt, and assuming they don’t mean mess and washing up!

Ellie Pniok, commercial manager for Ikea Food, explains that the Scandinavia belief in the power of food to bring people together is behind the dining club’s creation, “We bond and connect over the everyday process of cooking meals together so, we are opening The Dining Club to bring people together to enjoy a meal from beginning to end. This will take place in an environment that reflects a homely kitchen, so you can host a dinner party for all of your friends.”
